POSITION TYPE Full-Time, Part-Time
EMPLOYMENT TYPE W9
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION(S) CPM MEAC, CPM PEP, CNM, NRP/CPR
NAME OF BIRTH BUSINESS Hampton Roads Midwifery

Hampton Roads Midwifery is an established and growing practice in Norfolk, VA. Tammi McKinley, CPM has been a midwife since 2004. She is seeking a VA licensed or willing to license CPM or CNM eager to serve families in achieving low risk, life affirming, physiologic births within an hour’s radius throughout Hampton Roads, in Southeastern Virginia. The Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean are within a short driving distance for your relaxation and revitalization. We also have privileges at The Village Midwife Birth Center’s freestanding birth center in Newport News, VA, for families who cannot birth at home. Hampton Roads has a large military population with the Norfolk Naval Base and other military installations nearby. Hampton Roads Midwifery has a beautifully diverse client population, in all possible ways. Because of Tammi’s belief that out of hospital birth should be available to all, regardless of income, Tammi is a Virginia Medicaid provider. Tammi also serves the multiples, breech and VBAC populations. The CPM or CNM will practice to the full scope of their VA license and is willing to become a Virginia Medicaid provider. Hampton Roads Midwifery includes a team of CPM students and has a great transfer hospital and a transfer to MFM practice. Client care is distributed between the midwives and there is off call time. No experience in Community Birth is required although a willingness to learn to serve at home and the birth center is required. The midwife would work 1-2 clinic days per week and half call each month. GOLD Midwifery annual conference fee is paid for (15 CEUs). This is a practice where the LGBTQAI+ community is welcome with open arms and where Black Lives Matter. Current client load is 3-4 births per month. This new position as described above is currently part time at a salary of $3500/month. As the practice grows rapidly this year, the salary will increase. Please contact Tammi McKinley, CPM, at tammi@hrmidwife.com

NAME OF BIRTH BUSINESS The Natural BirthHouse

As you probably already know, every birth attended by midwives changes lives and improves outcomes. Midwives are especially important in Louisiana as our state sadly has one of the highest c-section rates, maternal mortality and maternal morbidity rates in the nation. This is ESPECIALLY true for women of color in La. Currently, Louisiana is largely underserved by Midwives. In fact, our birth center is one of only 5 freestanding birth centers in the state! We need more midwives to serve our communities and we are so thrilled to open this opportunity to have a CNM join our team! A little about us: The Natural BirthHouse was Louisiana’s first midwife-owned and operated freestanding birth center in Louisiana. We opened in 2016 and are located in Lafayette, Louisiana (two hours west of New Orleans). We have a 3700 sq.ft facility on an acre of land just a few miles from two local hospitals that deliver babies and have NICU available. We have great relationships with the local hospitals and physicians (including a collaborative physician) and have a smooth transfer process for those rare times we have to bring mamas or babies in. We provide birth center services with a home-birth-style feel. Our prenatal appointments are 45min long and we provide home visits postpartum for our moms and babies. Our current volume is 4-7 births per month and are willing to increase with a solid midwifery team in place. Currently our vaginal birth rate is 98% and the transfer rate in labor is close to 10%. The current position is a full-time position. Once established we hope to add a part-time position as well. Our full-time position includes 2-3 days per week of clinic plus on call time with flexible scheduled days off call. Candidates must reside within 30-45 minutes of the birth center while on call, preferably have out-of-hospital birth experience and are willing to commit to an on-call lifestyle. **Interested candidates should apply with their CV and current licenses/certification to naturalbirthhouse@gmail.com ** Position start date: May 2022 (CPMs may apply but must have experience)
